Tour Diary:
1st July - Port Harwich UK
Here's Nick and Andy sitting at the scenic port of Harwich(?) in
Essex...Just dropped M n'M to Stanstead where they are jetting their way to
another scenic port...this time the port of Esbjerg in Denmark.
Spent last night at some character-less motel on the side of the motorway
in central England after an 8 hour drive from Dunkeld in Scotland. Thers
some weird station on the radio which must be an EU initiative as it sounds
like its they're speaking in French, German, Dutch and maybe Danish all at the
same time.
Anyhoo!! Dunkeld? Cool spot..stayed with Gavin Duncan (ex Banshee Reeler)
and Jess along with their two wee lassies - many thanks to them for putting us
up and up with us.
Watched the world Cup final in a house that belonged to a woman who the
Beatrice Potter character Miss Tiddlesomething was based on....so the story
goes ..Mo thought it fascinating at least!
Caught up with another couple of fiddlers in Scotland too....Jamie
McClennan in Glasgow who did so e touring with us a few years ago...doing well
there by all accounts. Also by chance caught up with Sarah McFadyen who
happened to be driving t5hrough Fort William as we were going south...said to
say hi to everyone of course.
Now we could go on and on about the odd bit of drinking that has inflicted
itself upon us along the way so far...memory isn't the most reliable though so
we wont....
Had 3 good days rehearsals with our stand in piper Hector in Temple Lane
studios in Dublin which was good craic...also managed a few tunes down in
Andy's folks' place where we discovered Hector is a generous pourer of a
single malt.
So we have made it so far to Helsinki where we've just come off the ferry and
what a ferry it was..a small floating village no less...very flash. Have had
good gigs so far in Copenhagen and Stockholm. Crowds don't take much
encouragement to get up and have a boogie over here. Few folk even remembered
us from last time too..
should have some visual evidence of things soon... < back
