Jacky Tar were formed in 1996. Their line up has evolved since then - when Poor Mans Labour was recorded in Jan 1999 the band consisted
of Andy Kerr (guitar, vocals); Oscar Bullock (fiddle); Manu Scott (bass); Mo (drums). Also called in to some extra noises were Grant Shearer
(small pipes); Nick Swan (banjo) and Ruaridh Morrisson (flutes, whistles). Grant and Nick have since become full-time members of the band.
The album was recorded over 4 weeks at Wormhole studios, Wellington. Nick McGowan did the engineering and production was done by the said
McGowan along with Andy and Mo.
The CD is onto its 3rd pressing at the moment and has been sold through the site to folk from Russia to Brazil.
It has received radio play in the U.S., South America, Finland as well as Australasia and Europe.
